Nomad Goods: Pen
Machined from solid metals and PVD coated for abrasion and corrosion resistance, the pen is perfectly weighted in hand and offers a smooth and controlled writing experience. Nomad Pen features a smooth click-button mechanism and a reliable Schmidt® P900 ink cartridge.
The goal for this project was to create an heirloom everyday carry pen that emphasizes quality manufacturing and is delightful to use. The pen was designed to machined out of solid metals for a weighted feel. Precision cuts on the side of the pen aid in confident gripping and clocked threading allows the logo to align with the cut features every time. The bold material split creates a unique moment for material breaks and future CMF combinations.

Designed for CNC machining
The pen was designed to be machined out solid metals in order to achieve the desired weight for a premium feel. Design decisions were implemented with this process in mind.
Threaded two piece construction for easy cartridge refills
The functional two piece construction needed for easy cartridge replacement was utilized as an aesthetic feature to incorporate new materials and to celebrate the Nomad laser etch logo.
Steel + Aluminum Edition
Steel was utilized in the main body of the pen for weight properties. Aluminum was used in the top part as a unique contrast to the steel and for it’s wide variety of finishing options for future units.
